Mapping and Geographic Information Center
The City's Geographic Information is a computer software tool that allows us to look at information in a spatial context. It gives us a means by which to analyze, manipulate, and display all types of data.
The primary role of the MIS GIS department:
- Manage GIS technology
- Lead Enterprise GIS initiatives
- Maintain current base layers (i.e.: street centerlines)
- Providing technical assistance/consulting/guidance/training
The City of West Palm Beach Mapping and Geographic Information Center (MAGIC) model espouses the concept of centralized coordination and facilitation with decentralized discipline-orient project management. MAGIC will work if the feel of open architecture is given to every department that desires to participate in the GIS Enterprise.

The West Palm Beach GIS department works with WPB Neighborhood Services Division to create a GIS lay representing the neighborhood associations in West Palm Beach.
